Discover the Alpujarra: Land of grass
The Alpujarra is an earthly paradise (...), my soul feels at home here and writing has enriched my experience of this blessed country.

On this excursion we will discover some of the beautiful villages of this natural area of Europe. It is made up of 25 municipalities with spectacular landscapes dotted with farmland at almost 2,000 meters above sea level, white, humble houses with flat roofs and unique chimneys that have attracted writers and artists for centuries to live their peace and their legacy of artisan traditions and peculiar ways of life, such as Brenan and his famous work “South of Granada”.
You will understand how between 1568 and 1571 the event known as the “rebellion of the Alpujarras” took place, in which the abundant Moorish population of the Kingdom of Granada rose up in protest against the Christian power that limited the religious and cultural freedoms of said population.
At the indicated time we will meet at the meeting point and we will head to Lanjaron, the gateway but lacking in charm, approximately one hour away from Granada with a first stop and visit of this place famous for its waters.
We will continue to Pampaneira and other picturesque towns with impressive and photogenic views Pitres, Pórtugos, Trevelez, Bubión, Capileira, we will visit the Interpretation Center, to understand the particular orography of the Alpujarra and we will participate in a tasting of local cheeses and artisan chocolates.
To end the excursion, after the included alpujarreño lunch we will return to Granada at the indicated time

The Alpujarra is located between the Sierra Nevada, the Sierra de Lújar and the Sierra de Gádor, opening to the Mediterranean from the Mulhacén, the highest peak of the Iberian Peninsula. With a rugged and colorful landscape, its orography is furrowed with ravines, gorges and valleys, where the towns of this region rest, and sometimes climb. The beauty of these towns is just one of its many attractions.
Lanjarón, a spa town famous for the longevity and good health of its inhabitants, is the gateway to the wonders of the Alpujarras. Trevélez, the highest municipality in Europe, is known above all for its exquisite hams. Another of the main tourist destinations is the Poqueira ravine, where the towns of Pampaneira, Bubión and Capileira are located.
They say that this is an area of goblins and witches, as well as the smell of olive trees and trout with ham. Full day with lunch in a typical Alpujarra restaurant included, to get to know the beautiful region of La Alpujarra. Our visit begins in Pampaneira and Trevélez, a town known for drying hams since it is located in one of the highest points of the Sierra Nevada, with a visit to the ham drying room included. Continuation of the trip to Pórtugos where the Fuente Agria stands out. In the afternoon we will visit Pampaneira, a town located in the Poqueira ravine, and which, together with Bubión and Capileira, has been declared a Historic-Artistic Site. All three maintain the Berber aspect in the architecture of their houses and streets. We will continue our trip to Lanjarón, a town that sums up all the beauty of this region and that has the best climate in the valley. Return to Granada.
